The Arcot Hall Golf Club has excellent sections for Mens, Ladies, Seniors and Juniors
Friendlies are a great way to get to play other courses, meet fellow golfers from other clubs and enjoy a pleasant evening of golf. The results are invariably an honourable draw and the evenings are topped off with a meal and a drink amongst good company! You don't have to be a low handicapper to play but it would be helpful if you were available for both the home and away fixtures!
Watch the notice board for when the sheets go up and get your name down. You would be most welcome!
Lady players of all abilities are welcome so whether you are a lower handicap player who would like to be considered for team matches or just wish to play more social golf, everyone is welcome!
Our competition day is a Friday and we have three tee slots: morning, afternoon and evening. These times give everyone the chance to play at a time that suits.
We hold several social golfing events during the year which usually end with a meal in our Restaurant at Arcot Hall.
We currently have two teams in the County League as well as entering teams in the Norah Percy and T.R. Percy competitions. These matches give ladies a chance to play at other clubs and mix with other golfers.
The Club also hold mixed competitions usually played on Bank Holiday Sundays and Mondays which are fun to enter.
LATEST UPDATES - JUNE 2016
What a busy year in Arcot Hall Ladies’ Section! Following on from our very successful Coffee Morning and Get Together Day, the Ladies’ Friday Competitions commenced on the 1st April.
The First Team and Second Team are both involved in their Shield Matches and despite poor weather on occasions, the players have been 100% committed to playing very competitive rounds in some very tight matches. There is a great spirit of friendship between Clubs on these occasions, with lots of laughter and chat when enjoying the meal together at the end of the match.
The Taster Sessions are very well attended, with excellent numbers continuing with the coaching programmes on offer. The ladies are now going out onto the course and are very enthusiastic. The “meet and greet” sessions after each lesson have become a highlight each week, as we socialise over coffee. Well done ladies – keep up the good work.
The Rose Bowl final took place on the 29th May and was won by Lorinda Russell, with Gloria Melrose in second place. Lorinda is having a great season, as only three weeks earlier, she had a hole in one on the 11th.
Rachel Gourley played in the County Championships at Whitley Bay Golf Club and despite the terrible weather on day one, at the end of two rounds Rachel was in ninth place out of 19 players. On the second day Rachel lost on the 20TH HOLE. What a match; the talk of the clubhouse. Rachel has been selected to play in County Match Week at Penrith, so congratulations Rachel on all your achievements this season.
In glorious sunshine on the 6th June, we held our Open Day. Whilst we appreciate Arcot Hall Ladies’ Open is always popular, it was wonderful to be out on the course playing golf in such lovely weather. Lots of compliments were forthcoming about the condition of the course, which have been passed on to the Greenkeepers, who work so hard for our benefit. An excellent day!
On the 5th July, the Ladies’ Section is organising a Field Day, where everyone will be encouraged to wear red, white and blue, if they wish. In the morning, the format will be a one club, nine hole competition, with a break for lunch and then in the afternoon, we will again play nine holes, the format being a Texas Scramble. For this fun day, we look forward to inviting our “Taster Day” ladies along, to make up teams with Arcot lady members, so that we can have a truly enjoyable day together.
The FREE Taster Session held on 03rd April 2016
The Free Taster session organised by the ladies section on the 3rd April attracted a great deal of interest. On a sunny day, 32 ladies arrived to try a new experience of hitting a number of golf balls, with the guidance of Kris Bengtsson (The Pro) and Paul Whittaker (County Development Officer). All equipment was provided and the session was well structured by Kris and Paul, with the visitors splitting into two groups, using two practice areas of the course, where they were introduced to different skills. Halfway through the session, the ladies moved between areas, enabling everyone to try all that was on offer. This was followed in the upstairs lounge, by the guests being offered cheese, biscuits, nibbles, wine and coffee, which were served and donated by the Arcot ladies. Lots of friendly chatter filled the room and the enthusiasm was apparent for all to see.
The whole experience was well received by the visitors, who soon took up the opportunity to learn more, by signing up for the five free coaching lessons being offered with effect from Saturday, 9th April.
Arcot ladies plan to be on hand at the end of each free coaching lesson, to share a coffee and chat with all those taking part.
All in all a very enjoyable, informal and successful day at Arcot Hall!
NOTE: This is a FREE event, when new ladies can come along, hit a few golf balls on the practice ground with the help of our Pro, Kris and then meet in the upstairs mixed lounge, to have a drink and some nibbles. Golf clubs, balls etc. will be provided. Anyone finding that they would like to know more, will be given information about the five FREE group lessons which are planned to follow, on days and times to accommodate everyone, where possible. If any lady reading this would like more information then please email Kris at email@example.com,
